Monday Mewsings

Long before Coco had her very own blog, she shared her endeavors on our Curlz and Swirlz blog.

Way back in 2009, the Cat Blogosphere had Cat Presidential campaign and Coco campaigned far and wide, over the interwebs...

I smiled at the posts we did from back then and thought you would enjoy seeing them, too!

And here's here acceptance speech, it made me LOL...

The catizens voted Coco the winner by a landslide, paws down... The Curlz got the vote! Coco would like to thank the hundreds, maybe thousands, that voted for her and made her win possible!

She would like to acknowledge the support and advice her fellow candidates gave her, and she hopes to have them fill the cabinet positions, where she can call upon them for their sage wisdom and advice.

Here is her acceptance speech (she didn't know about that Inauguration Speech Generator--that was a nice job Sandra did!)

My fellow catizens:

I stand purroudly here today, humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have in me, mindful of the sacrifices borne by the cats that came before us.

On this day, we have chosen unity of purpose over conflict and discord, and we come to proclaim an end to the petty hissing and spitting, the false mewling, the worn-out dogmas (she smiles here) that for far too long have been the stuff cat fights are made of.

The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to use our nine lives to better the world for cats; to carry forward that noble idea, that all cats are equal, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness. That happiness might be in a lap or under a fluffy blanket; it might be in a sunny window or in sneaking into the pantry for treats.

Our journey has never been one of settling for less. Cats do not hesitate to ask for what they want. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted, for those who prefer catnaps over stealthy progress, or for those who seek only the pleasures of fluffy beds and crystal food bowls. We understand there must be laundry days and broken dishes to be replaced when big footed humans step on them.

Rather, it has been the brave felines, some celebrated, but more often just plain cats, obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long path towards forever homes, and the best of stinky goodness (with a few treats of our choice thrown in). There are some who may question the scale of our ambitions. They have forgotten what the cats who came before us have already done, and of the loving human creatures that have helped us along the way.

We will show the world what cats can achieve, when imagination is joined to common purrpurrs, and all cats and dogs and humans and creatures of the earth can live together in harmony. That is the dream, that is the hope.

Fashion Friday...Tropical Style!

Before Summer is completely over...wish Coco & I could make it to the beach, any beach!

Coco has her Boca Raton inspired flirty little dress, which could double as a swim suit cover up...

And all that's missing from this tropical outfit is a Carmen Miranda basket of fruit hat!

But the coconut bra embellished with flowers is quite eye-catching, don't you think?!

But Coco thinks it's a bit uncomfortable, if I am understanding this look she gave me!

Monday Mewsings

Coco's been kind of laying low, letting her Mother steal some of the limelight...

But Coco hasn't been lounging about, except for napping with with her body guards...

And since we are half way through summer already, a tropical outfit is certainly apropos!

I've yet to find the right bikini, tankini or one piece swimsuit that looks perfect on her, but she does have a grass skirt and coconut bra...but we should save that for Fashion Friday!

Monday Musings

People often ask me 'How did you train Coco to dress up and actually seem to enjoy it?'

They say 'My cat would rip the outfits off in a second, or fall over sideways like they were unable to move'...

I didn't train Coco to accept my ministrations or perform in public...she just does it with a flair and confidence all her own!

Maybe part of it is the temperament of the Cornish Rex breed--outgoing, inquisitive and gregarious.

I feel that when she is the center of attention, by me or others, she is in her element and is happiest. And she's been doing this for a few years now and every time we go out, she still continues to amaze me with her style and verve!

Another surprise though, is her 13 year old mother, Kely Bray, has taken to public appearances and dressing up just like her daughter! Kely came back home to me last year when her family made the decision to give her up.

She had never been a show cat, and was not accustomed to public appearances,  but I am a Client Care Specialist at Just Cats Clinic in Reston Virginia and a few weeks ago started taking Kely in to work with me for her laser therapy treatments.

Of course, I thought she might look cute in one of the outfits Coco has outgrown, but wasn't sure if she would be comfortable or if she would even accept dressing up. Well, she is, she does and she has become quite the 'Greeter Kitty' at JCC!

I have even started a Facebook 'Daily Kely' update which our friends are enjoying, saying things like 'Your pictures are like little meditations in beauty, grace and fun. I feel better every time I see one! Thank you!

Gosh, these photos of Kely make me feel the same way, too!

Coco will always be the model and rock the Cat Walk with her style, but Kely has a quiet grace that is very special and unique and loved...

Fashion Friday

Can't believe the 4th of July was a week ago! We had a fun-filled day and wanted to share the photos!

Coco had to share the limelight with her Boy Toys, Disco NoFurNo and Brighton, but the trio were quite spectacular, don't you think?!

Some very good friends helped us celebrate the day, and push the strollers, too!

It was a lovely day on Lake Montclair and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves...

We think our '4th of July Floats' were truly parade worthy!

And we brought lots of smiles to everyone we met along the way!

Hope your holiday was just as spectacular!

Wordless Wednesday

Before Coco became Coco, the Couture Cat...she was a MomCat!

Which just goes to show, you can get your figure back, with the right exercise program...

And some spa treatments...

As well as eating right!

After all, as Sparkle, the Designer cat reminded us...
"If you don't watch your figure, no one else will!"

And speaking of exercise, don't forget to Hop!
